Kati Vasti Therapy

Kati Vasti: One of the major Ayurvedic treatments is Kati vasti which is very helpful to treat health concerns such as Lumbar Spondylosis, Lumbago, Sciatica, Inter vertebral disc prolapses, backache. Kati means lower back which is subjected to a therapy called Vasti (a warm medicated oil used for treatment by placing on top of lumbosacral region). This therapy is a preventive measurement to strengthen & nourish the spine. The therapy also relieves you from stiffens and pain due to physical daily routine job or due to some odd jobs. Kati Vasti is considered one of the most popular among many other treatments for lower back pain.

The lower back problem is a very common health problem which occurs to almost everyone at some point in our lives. The common causes of lower back problems are mechanical issues and soft-tissue injuries such as compression of nerve roots, intervertebral joints, and improper movement of the spinal joints. The other factors which add to this problem are our lifestyle, lowered immunity, food habits, type of job etc.

In Kati Vasti a solid herbal paste boundary is formed around the lower back so the oil poured does not pour out of the boundary. After formation of the herbal paste boundary warm medicated herbal oil is slowly poured into it; this oil, confined within in herbal boundary, helps in alleviating the pain and nourishes the area. For effective back pain relief, one should consult practitioner for the duration of treatment. Normally the treatment varies from one week to 3 weeks depending on the severity of the pain or numbness (caused by sciatic nerve compression or similar trouble).

The benefits of this therapy can be realized within few days of the treatment; one can feel the effect on the concerned area.
